Speechless Before God

There are few times I have ever been speechless. One time I remember is when my family surprised me with a puppy. I was shocked beyond words. All the other times I have been speechless has been when my soul has been elevated into the heavens.
This has happened when I have heard exquisite music performed beyond mere human ability. This has happened when the Holy Spirit has moved in powerful ways. It has happened when the presence of God fills a sanctuary or tabernacle during the singing, the prayers, the preaching, or at the altar. At those times I am speechless before our holy God.
Words of wisdom abound in the Bible, but I find these words particularly helpful:  Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.     ...Much dreaming and many words are meaningless. Therefore stand in awe of God. (Ecclesiastes 5:2, 7)
It isn't our words, whether song, spoken or prayed, but our hearts that open the doors of heaven. God pours out his presence in powerful ways when we are aware of his holiness and understand our position. What words from us are worthy of God, except words of praise, love and adoration?
All we can do is stand in awe of God.
Reach for encouragement. To his glory.
